Hey y’all!!! Well, lots has changed since we last talked. My new album, Unleashed, is available online in CD and digital format at CD Baby, iTunes, Amazon, Spotify, and others. You can buy the vinyl on my website www.mandistrachota.com or at any of my shows. Hopefully the vinyl will also be available in stores and other places online by the end of the month. Speaking of buying the vinyl on my website, ALL of my merchandise is now available on the website!! That means you can order the new album, my first album, T-shirts, flasks, fans, and more in a one-stop shop. With the exception of taxes and shipping (which is included) all of this money goes directly to me to help pay for this project and hopefully many more projects to come. The absolute best way to #supportlocalmusic is to BUY MY STUFF!!!
Add to that a milestone birthday, and it has been a busy couple weeks! Here’s what’s going on this month. Tomorrow evening, Saturday, October 7, I’ll be playing at Grand Champion BBQ in Roswell on Canton St. Just me and my guitar, this gig is a lot of fun as it is in the heart of downtown Roswell, so you get to enjoy good food, me, and people watching all at once! Grand Champion is located at 982 Canton St, Roswell, GA 30075. Music is from 6:30-9:30. I will also be back at Grand Champion on 10/20.
I will be playing the Iron Pour at Elliot St Pub with Wasted Potential on Friday, 10/13 (spooky… and in a Halloween month, no less! wasn’t it a full moon last night?) Then on October 14 we repeat one of my favorite events from last year, Oakhurst Porchfest!!! I played this event with Wasted Potential last year, and it was so much fun, I decided to enter under my own name as well. So I’ll be playing a solo acoustic set from 2-3, including most of the songs from my new album, at 142 Adams St in Decatur. Then, a few blocks away, I’ll be performing with Wasted Potential from 5-6 at 311 Madison Ave. For those of you that haven’t been to Porchfest yet, people open up their porches to local performers. There are local artists from noon through six spread out amongst different porches in the Oakhurst community. Some hosts provide food and drinks, but you can also bring your own. Same applies to lawn seating. This is a great way to get to know your neighbors and an awesome way to discover new local artists. You can plant yourself at your favorite house or spend a few minutes at each place. I seriously love this event and wish it would take hold in other communities as well. (ahem, Marietta…) Here is the link to the online map so you can plan your route for the day: Porchfest Google Map and Schedule
Sunday, October 15, I will be playing the Gospel Brunch at Eddie’s Attic with Mudcat and Miss Beverly ‘Guitar’ Watkins. This event is always a blast! If you end up in midtown instead of Decatur, Wasted Potential is playing the Pride Parade as well. Here is one of the few downfalls of playing in multiple bands — I may have to wear my pride outfit to the gospel show… But seriously, you can’t go wrong attending either event. Just don’t be sad and lonely at home. You can find something at both events to lift your spirits!
Tuesday, October 17, I’ll be playing solo acoustic at Hard Rock Cafe in downtown Atlanta. This is a really nice stage and in the heart of downtown. Come peruse some interesting rock n’ roll artifacts and try their delicious ‘buffalo cauliflower.’ I’ll be playing original tunes sprinkled with some blues and r&b covers from 7-10.

10/21 I’ll be playing a private wedding. Then it’s a Mudcat weekend at Northside Tavern 10/27 and 10/28!!! Ain’t no party like a Northside Party, and honestly, I’m a little hurt I need to keep telling y’all that. Music starts around 10 each night. Look for me with Wasted Potential at the Haints and Saints Parade in Decatur in the afternoon on Sunday, 10/29, and then in the Grant Park Halloween Parade on 10/31, as well as the Day Of the Dead Parade in Little 5 on 11/1.
And, being that it is the spookiest month of all, don’t forget that Bytchcraft plays at Darwin’s every Wednesday afternoon from 1-4. What better way to spend your lunch hour than with some live music!
Come help me celebrate officially becoming an ‘old lady’ this month! And please show some love by buying, wearing, playing, displaying, my merchandise! I’m so excited to share this new album with you all. Please share it with your friends.
