Hello everybody! Or shall I say, welcome back? People are getting vaccinated and the weather is already getting toasty, which means we are finally seeing some options for live music again. So it seems an appropriate time for an update.

First I would like to say thank you so much to everyone who supported me over the past year! Even though I didn’t get to see your face, it was nice to see several of you on my livestreams and supporting me with tips and merchandise sales and sharing my product. I couldn’t have survived without all of you. As most of you know, I released Pictures in March of last year, right before the world shut down. The tour I built to promote this album was canceled entirely. So if you have not received your copy yet, or need some taco seasoning or a new bookmark, etc. please head over to ‘THE STORE’ and peruse around.

The year hasn’t been completely devoid of victories, so let me make sure to fill you in on some cool stuff. Last summer I worked with Alex Guthrie on his song Love Is, which you can view HERE. Proceeds benefitted the Atlanta Solidarity Fund. It was a tumultuous summer and I know many of us as artists tried to help by using our talents. It was a really fun project and it felt great to get in the studio and make music. Speaking of getting in the studio, I also sang some vocals on Eddie 9V’s upcoming release, scheduled for May 28th. Here is Little Black Flies, one of the songs I’m singing on (I know, that doesn’t look like me ;)). I also spent some time in the studio with Andrea & Mud working on their next project. In case you still haven’t enjoyed their last project, here’s one of those tunes: Send Your Love My Way. To purchase their latest release visit their website here. I will also be heading into the studio later this month with Wendy DuMond for her upcoming release, which should be pretty witchy (yeah, that’s what I said, it’s what I meant, and I can’t explain why that’s awesome).

Don’t worry, I’ve also been working on some of my own tunes and I will keep you updated on when you can get some new music in your earhole. You can start getting excited about the next Wasted Potential release, which is slated for June 19th. More info on that to come very shortly. In the meantime, if you wanna listen to our last release, head over to our website Wasted Potential Brass Band Website or find us on Spotify.

And if you really can’t wait to hear some new material, here’s some spots to come get some real live face time.  This Sunday, 5/2, I’ll be playing some tunes during brunch at Madison Yards. I believe there are a few places to get your grub on there. I will be stationed just outside the Jamba Juice from 11-2, playing your favorite covers and some of my own as well.

Saturday, May 8th, I’ll be playing with Theron Merritt and Lee Goodness at The Third Door in Marietta. This new venue just off the Marietta square is quickly gaining a name for itself for having awesome original music. Modeled after a speakeasy, they also serve some pretty tasty cocktails and mocktails. This is an open outdoor event so social distancing is in effect. Music is from 8 to 10:30. Third Door Website

Wasted Potential will also be performing earlier in the evening at the Highlands Porchfest. We missed out on Oakhurst Porchfest last year and I know many of us are dying to get back out there and make up for lost time. For more info on the time and address of this performance, follow Wasted Potential on FB. More info will be posted next week. While you’re there, ‘Like’ us to make sure you don’t miss out on updates and alerts about livestreams. You should probably make sure you’ve done that with my Facebook page as well. Mandi Strachota FB

Friday, May 14th, I’ll be playing some tunes at Wild Heaven Brewing Company in the West End. This will be my first time performing there, though it will not be my first time imbibing in their delicious libations. Music is from 6-9. For more information about specials and what is currently pouring, check out their website. Wild Heaven Website

Friday, May 21st, I’ll be heading back to Foxy Loxy Cafe in Savannah. I am so sad I missed out on my tour last year and am dying to get back on the road. We’re gonna get that started little by little, and my first stop is in Savannah. This is a lovely coffee shop with a nice outdoor space for live music and art. If you are in the area please stop by! Music starts at 6 pm. Foxy Loxy Website

Wednesday, May 26th, I’ll be playing some acoustic tunes for Wind Down Wednesdays in East Lake Park. Bring your picnic basket and your lawn chair, but most of all bring your friends! I’ll be playing music in the park from 6 to 8.

Saturday, May 29th, I’ll be back at South Main Kitchen in downtown Alpharetta. I’ll be hanging out in the alley behind the restaurant. Join me for some food and cocktails, or stop by and say hey while you’re wandering around town. I’ll be there from 7-10.

I’ll try to let you know if any other events come up; now that people are scheduling again calendars are filling up pretty quickly. But if you don’t want to miss anything, you can follow me on Facebook, and you can always check the calendar on the website Mandi Strachota Dot Com.

Don’t forget, it is now more important than ever to SUPPORT LOCAL MUSIC. Please remember a lot of us have been out of work for over a year, so be generous with your tips, help us spread the word about shows, and be patient with any hiccups that may occur. I look forward to seeing all your smiling faces and dancing feet!!!

Coming up in June: Ott Farms 6/5, Hiawassee Music Fest 6/12, WPBB at Northside Tavern 6/19 RELEASE PARTY, WPBB at Atlanta Botanical Gardens 6/25, and a Waller’s show TBD.
