Hey everybody! I am getting some major work done on the new website
and I promise to be back and running in the next few weeks. In the
meantime here’s your update for March…
This Thursday, March 3rd, I will be back at SuBourbon Bar in Kennesaw.
I’ve been playing here every other Thursday and we are starting to get
a crowd so come on out and join us! Though I may never know myself, I
am told the oysters are quite delicious! Plus there’s a nice selection
of bourbon. So come eat, drink and be merry with me! Music starts at
8:30. SuBourbon Bar is located at 2718 Summers St in Kennesaw, GA
30144. You can contact them at (770)726-2163 or check out their
website www.subourbonbar.com. As I said, I am playing there every
other Thursday, so if you can’t make it this week, you can find me
there on 3/17 for St Pat’s (I promise to learn a limerick or two!) as
well as 3/31.
This Saturday, March 5th, I will be joining three other artists for
the Songwriters’ Showcase at The Snug Listening Room in downtown
Canton. I have been to a couple of these and there is rarely an empty
seat in the house! This is a fantastic event as the songwriters tell
you their stories and inspirations and the audience is very good at
listening. It is a nice opportunity for us to actually get our songs
heard. This month the lineup is Shaun Foti, Jeannie Caryn, Greg
Shaddix and me. Jeannie is a friend of mine and I have heard a bit of
Shaun’s music, plus I am very interested in meeting Greg for the first
time! I hope you will join me for this. I am very excited about the
music that I am writing and recording right now, and I think you
should be too! There has been such an overwhelming interest in this
event that they have added a $5 cover, which for a Saturday night is
pretty darn minimal. Music starts around 8, but get there early so you
can get a seat and so you can eat dinner! Their menu is fantastic,
check it out online at www.thesnuggastropub.com. The Snug is located
in downtown Canton, 190 E Main St, 30114 (770)213-4814.
And last, but most certainly not least, you know what March means….
CHICKEN RAID!!!!!! This is my favorite festival of the year and
there’s no reason why it shouldn’t be yours too. Mudcat and his
entourage of talented friends celebrate the life and music of Mr.
Frank Edwards at Northside Tavern for two days every year. I have been
blessed to participate in this event as an act for what will now be
the third year, and I have participated in the gospel hour for
several. There will be artists all day and night Saturday and Sunday,
March 19th and 20th. I will be participating in the gospel hour on
Sunday as usual starting at 1 pm. I encourage everyone to come out for
this hour as it is always fun and extremely uplifting. We play gospel
music of all styles and everyone is welcome to participate however
they feel moved. You can hum in the background, shake a tambourine, or
lead a song if you like! Then stick around, as my set will be around
3:30 on Sunday. I will be there with my dancing shoes all weekend, so
come hang out! I have listed the performers below. Northside Tavern is
located at 1058 Howell Mill Rd in Atlanta. Tickets are available at
the door and are $15 for Saturday and $10 for Sunday, with 12 hours of
music each day, beginning at 2 pm Saturday and 1 pm Sunday. Children
are welcome in the afternoons and BBQ plates from Fat Matt’s (yum!)
will be available for purchase. Please visit

tunes. Door sales go to paying our more senior blues legends as well
as Mr. Frank’s estate.
Final mixes for the upcoming album are almost finished! I look forward
to giving you all a release date soon, but it looks like it will be
late summer/early fall. I could not be more excited about this album,
y’all. It’s fantastic! Looking forward to seeing you around. Don’t
forget to #supportlocalmusic !
