Be-part-of-something-great-with-Kickstarter
Hey everyone! I know I am running a bit late on this one, but my gigs start tonight so here we go…

First let me start by doing something I never do, and that’s ask for money. There are two events this month that desperately need some funding, keeping in mind that every little bit counts. This coming Sunday, March 8th, is the Memorial Benefit for JJ Buckland. He had a heart attack onstage last month and is loved by the local jam community here in Atlanta. But more importantly, he was the sole provider for his family, including a wife suffering from cancer, which as many of us know, is radically expensive. The benefit will be held at Guston’s in Woodstock, GA and all the proceeds from the door as well as any tips and any funds raised by the silent auction (some pretty cool gift certificates, CDs, musical equipment, artwork, etc) will go to the family. The best way for you to help is to come hang out with us and listen to some great music! Lineup is as follows so you can see you would not be wasting your Sunday! (You may notice some of my favorites are on the list…)

3:00 The wonderful acoustic sounds of The Woody’s and Mandi Strachota

3:30 A Memorial half hour for the family and Rocco to speak about JJ ending with Andrew Black and Jonathan Buckland paying tribute with “Stormy Monday” JJ’s favorite tune and a personal request by Stephanie

4:00 WaveTree …Barry Richman, George Price, Dana McCarthy and Charlie Korch getting the energy up!

5:00 IBC Solo Champion Little G Weevil bringing high energy Blues only G can bring !!

6:00 Mudcat and the Atlanta Horns Party time !!

7:00 Stephen Skipper’s Rolling Stones Tribute Atlanta’s BEST Rolling Stones Tribute band

Guston’s is located at 12195 Hwy 92, Ste 156, Woodstock GA 30188 (770)485-6565 or go to their website www.gustons.com. Tickets are $10, but don’t worry, all draft beers are under $3!

Of course I understand you will not all be able to make the benefit. If you would still like to help out, visit the memorial page on facebook https://www.facebook.com/pages/JJ-Bucklands-Memorial-Page/795412920538262?ref=br_tf and there is a link to donate. It’s been a rough month for the music community, including the passing of a dear friend ‘Phat Daddy’ Pat Garrity, so please, any help is greatly appreciated.

The other event this month is my favorite, the annual Chicken Raid. This is an annual event honoring the life and music of Mr Frank Edwards, an Atlanta blues legend. The event takes place at the infamous Northside Tavern and is catered by Fat Matt’s BBQ (yum!) and spans everything from acoustic artists to full band with horns, incorporating Mr. Frank’s favorite genres, blues and gospel. Most of the performers donate their time, but a few of the older ones still need our help and there is a lot involved in putting this thing together so every penny counts. Any extra proceeds will go to Mr. Frank’s estate. I have included the kickstarter link above. This is a two day festival March 21 and 22. My acoustic set is around 4:20 on Saturday (show starts at 3 and times are not exact, so come early!) and I will also be participating in the gospel hour that kicks the day off on Sunday at 1pm. I have been doing the gospel hour for quite a few years now and it is always a blast, and everyone is welcome to participate!!! Even if you just wanna hum along… You can learn more about Frank Edwards and view the full lineup on the website https://www.facebook.com/events/1612667148955274/ and I will be posting more articles on my website as well. Northside Tavern is located at 1058 Howell Mill Rd NW, Atlanta, GA 30318 (404)874-8745 or you can find them on the web www.northsidetavern.com. Tickets are $15 Saturday and $10 Sunday.

Tonight, Thursday, March 5, I will be joining my old friend Hill Roberts at C&S Seafood and Oyster Bar in Vinings. This guy is full of heart and the food is delicious, so come hungry! Hill goes on around 7 and I will join him around 8:30. C&S is located in the Riverview Village Shopping center (includes a Kroger), 3240 Cobb Parkway Atlanta GA 30339 (770)272-0999. Check out their amazing menu at www.candsoysterbar.com.

Tomorrow morning I will be joining my biggest fan, Stephen BluesDude Duncan on my favorite radio station 89.3 fm WRFG. He will be spinning his favorite old blues and I may play a song or two live on the air in between.

This Saturday, March 7, I will be debuting at Reformation Brewery in Woodstock. You know I love supporting the locals! I haven’t played here yet, but I have visited and taken the tour and it’s pretty rad and the beers are not only delicious, but these guys have a unique format so I urge you to check it out. I will begin playing around 6:30pm. Reformation Brewery is located at 500 Arnold Mill Way in Woodstock, GA 30188 (678)341-0828 or find them online at www.reformationbrewery.com.

Friday, March 13 I will be returning to Kouzina Christos in Marietta (more commonly known as ‘Christos’). This place has a fabulous atmoshpere and the staff couldn’t be more friendly, not to mention, once again, delicious food! Hope you guys are hungry this month! Turns out I have a few friends who eat here on a regular basis so I guess it speaks for itself. I will be playing from 6:30-9:30. Kouzina Christos is located at 1453 Terrell Mill Road, Marietta, GA 30067 (770)952-1950 or follow them online at www.kouzinachristos.com.

Not a lot of gigs this month as I prepare for patio season as well as getting started on the preproduction for my new project, which we will begin recording in April. I am pushing for an early fall release but I will keep you posted. In the meantime keep an eye out for my Live at Red Light Cafe album, which I will be posting for free download in the near future. For all of my new happenings, to view my calendar, or to listen to some tunes, please visit my website www.mandistrachota.com. And don’t forget there are all kinds of ways to support me if you can’t get out to the gigs…. buy my music, like my facebook page, up my views on youtube (you can even set the playlist to repeat and turn the sound off if you wanna get creative), like and comment on my youtube videos, like my soundcloud tracks, favorite my tweets, fan me on reverbnation, etc. But my favorite way is to see your face! See you soon!
