Hey everybody! So I realize it’s getting close to mid month and I haven’t said much to all of you. There’s not a whole lot going on this month, but let me give you a little recap and a little update.
I spent the beginning of the month in Northern WI. On top of realizing I am too out of shape to waterski (although I did get up on the first try – just like riding a bike they say… I stopped saying that after I took my bike out for the first time in years and scraped up my entire left side) and getting to see lots of this guy (he’s being eaten by a dinosaur):
I also had the pleasure of performing a private concert for my Aunt and guests with my brother in front of a full moon rising over a calm lake. After the concert my brother and I sat at the end of the pier and watched the Northern Lights. So yeah, pretty great weekend!
Last weekend I got to play to my regular crowd at The Place in Marietta and also guest starred as a substitute for Jeannie Caryn at the Haloft in Helen. What a fun town! It was nice to do a little gigging outside of Atlanta yet not too far from home and I am looking forward to adding more gigs like this in the future. So if you live in Columbus, Athens, Helen, get ready, cuz I’m coming for you! By the way, for my out of town folks, I do thoroughly enjoy traveling so if you have a couch and know a couple places in your area that support local music, I’d love to come see you!!!
My first week back I had visitors (one of the reasons it has taken me so long to get in touch!) and had the pleasure of my best friend from grade school accompanying me to my gig at Doc’s. Oh yeah, that’s what I wanted to tell you! Docs August I’ll be returning to Doc’s every Thursday this month! This is my old stomping grounds so I get to see old faces and meet new ones, play some of the old tunes and learn some new ones, you get the idea. Doc’s is ALWAYS a good time, and if you haven’t been there to see me yet, there is no time like now!!! Music is from 7-10. Doc’s is located at 2621 Cumberland Blvd in Smyrna, GA 300080 (just outside the perimeter on Cobb parkway behind the Walgreens/Starbucks.) Check out their website at www.docsatlanta.com.
Next Wednesday, August 19, I will be returning to Old Vinings Inn. Again, if you have not eaten at this place, you really need to check it out… the food is delicious! I will be playing solo acoustic in the upstairs bar adjacent to the patio, where you can look out on all your fellow Atlantans sitting in traffic. Music starts at 7:30. Old Vinings Inn is located at 3011 Paces Mill Rd SE in Atlanta, GA 30339 or get info online at www.oldviningsinn.net. And honestly, don’t worry if you do get stuck in traffic on Paces Mill, you’re probably waiting on a train (at least you didn’t bust a flat tee hee…)
And honestly, that’s it for this month besides more recording and more planning for this winter… there’s gonna be lots to talk about soon!
Coming in September… I will be returning to The Place Bar & Grill in Marietta the Sunday before Labor Day (9/6) for our Sunday chillaxing with bartender Megs at 700 Sandy Plains Rd Marietta, GA 30066 www.theplacebargrill.com.
See you soon!!! And GO PACK GO!!!!!!
